Elise Taplay Ryan, RMT
Elise Taplay Ryan, has been a Registered Massage Therapist since November 2006; first in Ontario with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and now in Prince Edward Island, with the newly formed College of Massage Therapists of Prince Edward Island. Currently, Elise served on the PEI Massage Therapy Association for 6 years holding the positions of Membership Coordinator, Treasurer, and Web Administrator for the Prince Edward Island Massage Therapy Association. She has taken on the position of Executive Director since finishing her 3 terms on the board.
She is located in Kingsboro PE, at the base of the Basin Head tide pool on East Point Road. She is the most east massage therapist on the island, 12 km east of Souris PE. Here, she provides deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage therapy, hot stone massage, Thai herbal stem massage therapy, Thai herbal stem facials, paraffin hand or foot wax treatments, cupping massage, and acupressure. She will provide mobile massage therapy for those unable to access the clinic in the winter months during the snow season. She will also go to your cottage or hotel/motel in the summer for 2 or more massages during the same visit. If you call her directly, she offers massage therapy in your room at the Inn at Bay Fortune or the Inn at St. Peter's.
Elise has an interest in massage therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) clients and is furthering her studies in this area. She provides massage therapy for pain and stress relief, including those suffering from PTSD whether they be first responders or veterans; or anyone suffering from trauma.
Elise grew up in Ontario where she was a Police Constable with the Canadian Pacific Railway working out of Toronto and Vaughan Detachments. After serving for 13 years with the railway, she went back to school and studied massage therapy at the now-defunct Canadian Therapeutic College in Burlington. She became an RMT with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario in 2006. She owned and operated The Natural Health Clinic in Stoney Creek, Ontario from 2004 to 2014, working as an RMT at her clinic, since 2006. She moved to PEI with her husband on June 6, 2014, and opened her practice at her current location on June 28th.
She has continued her education over her massage career, taking courses in nerve mobilization for the upper and lower extremities; Acupressure; CranioSacral Therapy; Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Hot Stone Massage, Thai Herbal Stem Massage, and Thai Herbal Stem Facials, Kinesio-Taping for sports injuries, Ultrasound and Inferential Current/TENNS Therapy and Cupping Massage Therapy. She has incorporated these techniques into her practice.
She also is studying Myoskeletal Techniques with Eric Dalton’s program.
